You couldn’t have said it better, Jorunn! Your description of the sensory joy in the trappings of a new school year resonates with me as well as the excitement of a new schedule and new teachers. I, too, was a September baby (there are lots of us who are the result of cold nights and holiday cheer) and am now in the process of deciding on a new wardrobe item to choose as a birthday present. I’ve been eyeing Wool& dresses since No Buy January and am thinking the Willow might be a very versatile choice. What do you think of Marion Berry for a True Summer? I’m worried it could be a bit too muted and Marine Blue is out of stock in my size. Would choosing it in Black be an ill advised delusional act, even though it doesn’t appear to be an extremely saturated black and could border on dark charcoal over time. I could layer it with my colors. I’d appreciate your input!

You mean this one? https://wooland.com/products/willow-swing-dress-marionberry ? I like the thought of it as a deeper colour choice for True Summer. It does not look very muted on my screen. It is indeed a pity that it is sold out in Marine Blue. Marionberry would layer nicely with other colours in the True Summer palette, but I suppose the black would be all right if it is more like a deep blue/charcoal grey. You might have to order one and return it if it feels wrong when you see it in real life. Do they have a good return policy, I wonder?

Yes, that’s it. The color does look okay on the website, but I’ve had ad videos pop up on YouTube for Wool& in which the colors appear muted in general. The Marion Berry appears to be a Soft Summer color in those ads. I look most vibrant in the most saturated True Summer colors that are just to the summer side of winter. Wool& does accept returns/exchanges but they charge a restocking fee for returns. I’m wondering if I should wait a while longer to see if they introduce some new, more vibrant colors for the upcoming season. I’ve waiting months as it is . . .

Yes, a little more waiting might be worth it. Maybe even write them an email and ask what colours will be stocked next, or when the marine blue will return.

I agree about the (hidden) love of school and notebooks. To this day, I do alot of learning in online and community classes. To me September is yellow, October (my bday) orange. Already it is dark in the morning when I get up. I am going to start a nature table!

Thank you Jorunn, for an other inspiring post.

My days are full of preserving and canning this year's crops. I love it, but it's still a lot of work. The cosy days with tea cups and candles are still ahead of me.

As a former schoolteacher, (retired 15 years now) I love this time of year too. Actually, I think part of the reason for becoming a teacher, dare I say it, is that ‘return to school’ feeling in August/September…and my love of stationery of all kinds. Let’s not forget the nature table I always yearned to have. This time of year I gather berries on branches, because yes I do have a nature table even now, and the last of the seashells collected on the beach this summer.

I thought you might like to read this https://www.morningaltars.com/altars. Of course they can be much more informal than those of this artist, I sometimes arrange small ones in my garden, or on trails as markers

Oh, how beautiful! Like mandalas made out of nature materials...

exactly! Therapeutic. I think you could find many materials where you live, and where you will live, to use to make one as an indoor nature table! Those outside are meant to be temporary, naturally

How beautiful these are, quite an inspiration. I love the idea that they would be quite different wherever you are in the world, but connected by the sense of devotion in their creation. Thank you for sharing this link. 🩷

oooh I love the idea of a nature table. Do you have a designated corner of your kitchen or living room for this?
